            Abstract :
Female under representation in CS is widely quoted around the world. Similar to some other Asian countries, in Pakistan female representation in CS degrees is relatively healthy but comparatively low in job market. We conducted a survey to identify the motivational and influential factors for students to join CS major with a focus on gender in order to understand the dynamics of gender representation in academia and job market. Our findings suggest that it is not the technical or stereotypical aspect that hinder growth of females in CS related job market, rather it is mainly driven by social factors.
