Abstract :
The effects of biaxial stress on the magnetic properties of pure iron discs are reported. Isostress changes in the coercivity are well described by an effective stress σEFF=σx -σy. Irreversible, stress-induced magnetization changes are presented in the form of contours in the (σx,σy) plane. These can be usefully described by a nine-coefficient polynomial in σx and σy
