Abstract :
The effects of biaxial stress on the magnetic properties of pure iron discs are reported. Isostress changes in the coercivity are well described by an effective stress σEFFx y. Irreversible, stress-induced magnetization changes are presented in the form of contours in the (σxy) plane. These can be usefully described by a nine-coefficient polynomial in σx and σy
