Abstract
In this brief, a CMOS image sensor that exploits the possibility of reconfiguring pixel photodiodes for energy harvesting for wireless image sensor applications is proposed. Based on the logarithmic sensor architecture, each pixel photodiode of the proposed sensor array can be configured into either photosensing or energy-harvesting element to accomplish image-capturing or energy-harvesting purpose, respectively. An addressing scheme for reduced resolution readout and improved energy-harvesting efficiency, and a two-level quantization scheme for reduced readout dynamic power consumption are also proposed.
