Abstract :
For a permanent magnet dipole to produce fields higher than the remnant induction of the magnetic materials, Halbach and Stelter array are commonly used structures. This paper presents a novel design for strong field permanent magnet dipole. We analyzed the structure using current sheet method. We then used BEA software to simulate the structure. A prototype dipole was built. The field from the prototype dipole was measured and compared to the analytical and BEA results. The actual field matches the calculation very well. There is no visible demagnetizing effect.
