From the editor-in-chief: Introducing computing in science & engineering

We hope you will share our excitement as computing in science and engineering enters a new era. In January 1999, the American Institute of Physics joins with the IEEE Computer Society to publish Computing in Science and Engineering, a new bimonthly magazine. CiSE will combine the strengths of our current magazines, Computers in Physics and IEEE Computational Science & Engineering, and replace both of them in a novel joint publishing venture between two outstanding organizations.
