Abstract :
Various comments are made concerning the above-named work (see ibid., vol.25, no.6, p.1025-34, Nov./Dec. 1989) by C.K. Duffy and R.P. Stratford. In particular, it is claimed that variable-frequency drives with diode power converters and PWM (pulse width modulation) or variable-voltage inverters with capacitor filters contribute a much higher level of harmonics than those indicated in Table X. In their reply, Duffy and Stratford clarify a number of points in the original paper.<>
