THERE WAS, amidst the countless goodbyes and hellos that marked the passing of another year, one that crept by almost totally unnoticed in 2010. Only the occasional train buff, railway professional, or dromomaniac - a person experiencing an irresistible passion for purposeless travels - will have sensed the event.
