As the newly appointed Editor-in-Chief (EIC) for the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics (JSTQE), the author would like to take the opportunity to extend a warm greeting to all readers of JSTQE. A particularly important issue for authors today is the time to publication. An accepted paper for JSTQE is posted online once the final version of the paper has been submitted. The paper is then regarded as having been published. This can occur well in advance of the issue being printed and I would like to remind potential authors of this. The impact factor for JSTQE has increased over the most recent three-year period: 2.518 in 2008, 3.064 in 2009, and 3.458 in 2010.
