Abstract :
This paper presents an improved power system maintenance scheduling methodology employing linear programming. It marks significant improvement over the integer programming-based maintenance scheduling algorithms both in terms of computation time and reliability of convergence. Apart from this, it also provides better means to model the period of maintenance by precise starting and ending days, special restrictions on maintenance and variance of expected unserved energy across the months of the planning period. A case study for the Northern Regional Electricity Board System of India with 238 generating units is carried out using the program
