  • Abstract
    An ultra-wideband monopole antenna with a novel coupling band notched filter is proposed. The filter consists of a smaller rectangle slot in the metallic radiation patch and a bigger rectangle added on the back ground plane. To illustrate the operating mechanism of this antenna more clearly, an equivalent circuit model is extracted and dis cussed. The measured impedance bandwidth defined by VSWR ≤ 2 is 10.6 GHz (2.31-12.91 GHz), with the band of 4.84-6.12 GHz notched. Also, an omnidirectional radiation characteristic in the desired frequency band can be obtained. Measured group delay and transmission characteristics show that an excellent transient response is achieved.
