Abstract :
The gain of overmoded dielectric rods has been calculated and verified experimentally. The optimum length for maximum gain for a single moded rod satisfies the Hansen-Woodyard condition. A relation for the optimum length for overmoded rods has been established and is solved by a numerical method.
