Abstract :
The parallel programming community has accumulated a significant amount of experience in the form of software patterns. Those patterns can be used in medical imaging applications on multicore platforms to improve startup time, runtime throughput, and algorithm reliability. As multicore processors become ubiquitous, we´ll have increasing computing power at our disposal. It makes sense to exploit the improved performance in medical image applications since they tend to be computationally demanding, and parallel programming can help.
