Abstract :
Despite its high potential in energy storage, the safety of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies is still not perceived on the same level compared to traditional fossil fuels by the wider public. To increase the market readiness, the field of Hydrogen Safety Engineering is focused on the definition of suitable models that will ultimately lead to the provision of appropriately validated software tools for the simulation of relevant phenomena and processes. To overcome the fragmentation of software tools the research infrastructure H2FC funded by the European Commission under FP7 Capacities Programme will build up and run an e-Infrastructure called "Cyber- Laboratory" to offer an integrated open access modeling and simulation tool for research, engineering, and education in the field hydrogen and fuel cell technology. Our contribution in this paper is the presentation of the concept of our Cyber-Laboratory as well as the implementation of a prototype for the realization of this vision.
