Abstract :
The need to develop and follow a consistent long-term energy policy using economic incentives for its implementation is established. The scope of such a formulation is considered. It is maintained that it must encompass not only energy sources of all kinds but also energy uses from the most mundane household functions to the most sophisticated space probes, and the various sources and uses are described. Some of the issues to be addressed are examined. No attempt is made to prescribe a specific policy.<>
