Abstract :
A typical coil winding machine and the winding patterns derived from it are described. The various factors which influence the choice of the coil winding gear ratio are explained and analysed. The results are presented in a form suitable for slide rule computation. The detection of faults in winding machines is discussed and the paper includes a bibliography of the existing literature on universal coil winding.
