Abstract
The paper is in three parts: Part 1 deals with the two criteria for the choice of a suitable method of producing printed circuits from the viewpoint of the printer. Such a method should permit of both universal application and specialization. The foil technique alone has passed this test. Part 2 describes the major production methods of the foil technique consisting in the main of printing, etching, fusing, mechanical patterning, transfer, and multilayer technique. Part 3 gives a detail account of a number of characteristics of foil conductors which make them universally usable and gives examples of applications featuring some of these characteristics.
