The stereophonic reproduction of speech and music

Monaural reproducer systems are probably nearing the limit of development and further improvement in the quality of reproduced sound is likely to be found in the application of stereophonic systems. Methods of achieving true and pseudo stereophony are described. Factors responsible for the stereophonic. effect are discussed and it is shown that the loudness difference at the two ears makes no significant contribution to the accuracy of location.
