    The authors describe the architecture and functions of the telecommunication management network (TMN). These functions comprise: alarm surveillance; status monitoring and control; performance monitoring; failure localization; testing; installation; provisioning; network operations and management; and billing. The application of open systems interconnection concepts to the TMN is examined.<>
