Abstract :
In less than 12 months, New Year´s Day will put the Y2K-compliance efforts of organizations large and small to the ultimate test on an international scale. As that date nears, awareness of the Y2K Problem´s potential for disrupting travel, basic services, and even entire economies has begun spreading to the general public. News programs feature regular reports from self-proclaimed millennium bug experts, consultants eager for publicity utter dire warnings of a computer-generated apocalypse, and stand-up comics even work Y2K into their routines. As the year 2000 nears, we seek one high-profile technology consultant´s unique perspective on the consequences, compliance efforts, legends, and hype that surround the Y2K Problem
