Abstract :
The main factor preventing the attainment of high velocities with armatures in railguns is the high current arc. The arc is a final stage of the skin current process depending on the metal body velocity. The investigation of the development of contact transition in two types of the railguns has been carried out with the help of a two-dimensional code. The parameters influencing the transition velocity value are determined
