A company approach to the implementation and management problems of mechanical CADCAM

This article gives an overview of the specific problems encountered during a CADCAM implementation scheme that was conducted within a small-batch mechanical manufacturing company. The authors classify two kinds of barriers to the effective deployment of CADCAM technology, i.e. organisational and technical. An outline of the problems created by each barrier is presented, together with a discussion of how these were addressed. Finally, specific conclusions are presented which highlight the key issues affecting the successful implementation and management of CADCAM
