Abstract
The constraints induced by prohibited-zones (PZs) were traditionally formulated as multiple disjoint regions. This letter proposes a compact formulation that simplifies the representation of economic load dispatch (ELD) models and expedites the algorithm implementation. This type of conversion would play a pivotal role to invoke representative optimization procedures in engineering software packages.
