It is near the end of year 2010, and it is also a time for our members to renew their IEEE membership. In this column, I would like to introduce the AP-S Membership Fee Subsidy Program (MFSP). This program, started in 2003, provides supplementary support to persons who qualify for the IEEE “Minimum Income Special Considerations Option” (MISCO) program. The MISCO program is for members whose total annual salary is less than $10,000 US dollars (USD). The MISCO program pays for 50% of the IEEE membership fee, and also 50% of the cost of one Society membership. The AP-S MFSP program will pay for the other 50% of the IEEE membership fee and for the cost to join the AP-S Society. Support is contingent on available funds from AP-S, and is limited to $5,000 per year.
