Abstract :
A novel low noise CMOS common gate transimpedance preamplifier, for the receiver in a digital fibre-optic communication system, is presented. Active feedback replaces resistive feedback, to give lower input referred current noise at the same bandwidth, when compared to the classical CMOS common gate preamplifier. Simulations using the Tritec 0.6 μm CMOS process give a bandwidth of 2 GHz and low noise (7.9×10-23 A2/Hz for 2 GHz)
