Abstract
A simple technique is reported for enhancing the pulse repetition rate over the free spectral range of the Fabry-Perot filter used in a higher-order FM modelocking scheme. A 17.4 GHz, 9.4 ps transform-limited pulse train was obtained from a fibre laser by phase modulation at 5.79 GHz and by employing an intracavity Fabry-Perot filter having a free spectral range of 3.48 GHz
