Abstract :
Factors affecting the application of the K-rating as an assessment of picture quality on vestigial sideband television systems are mentioned, and the use of echoes for the correction of waveform distortion is briefly discussed. Description of the design and use of a compact, low-cost video frequency transversal equalizer is followed by consideration of an equalizer capable of correcting video waveform distortion on a modulated carrier. Using the latter, it was found possible to eliminate a long delay echo introduced at band I by the introduction of an echo at a lower ¿system¿ frequency.
