The Importance of Showing Up [Editorial]

IEEE Technology and Society Magazine readers tend to be “present” with each other electronically. When it comes to email, the Web, social media, and advanced software and hardware, we have been there and done that. So it may seem a bit old fashioned for me to argue for the importance of physical presence to this audience. Please hear me out.
