Abstract :
A theoretical and experimental study of the phase characteristics of thick conducting gratings is presented. The frequency and angular behaviour of the reflection coefficient phase is investigated. Depending on the cross-section of the conductors, the grating periodicity can be chosen such that, over a wide frequency range, the phase of the reflection and transmission coefficients remains constant. Angular dependence of the reflection and transmission coefficients for these gratings also disappears within this frequency range. The phenomenon occurs only for the case with the electric vector parallel to the grating conductors
