            Abstract : 
A recent geometrical treatment of forward and inverse scattering problems, posed by electromagnetic wave illuminating a one-dimensional dielectric inhomogeneity, is interpreted within the framework of digital signal analysis. Quantitative inverse solutions are described, and are illustrated by an example in the context of real-time nondestructive evaluation.
