Abstract :
A novel implementation of a multichannel grating demultiplexer receiver suitable for HDWDM applications is described. The prototype receiver, capable of 10-channel operation spaced at 4 nm, uses a 16-element GaInAs/InP monolithic linear photodetector array and silicon preamplifier ICs. The sensitivity at the input to the demultiplexer is -31 dBm at 200 Mbit/s. Optical and electrical crosstalk measurements in the receiver are presented, and limited tests have shown that there is a negligible crosstalk penalty.
