Abstract :
Dealing essentially with human appreciations, industrial design is one part of a total activity which, together with electronic and mechanical design culminates in the production of electronic equipment. It deals with visual impact, and by placing the users requirements and comfort as the primary objective also embraces the vital ergonomic aspects of the product. Industrial design is just another branch of engineering, making its contribution at a stage early enough to be effective without adding to production costs. This article commences on an historical note and proceeds through design philosophy to the application of this particular aspect of design, pointing out the importance of team work, co-operation and communication between the design members.
