Abstract :
Spotsize converters (SSCs) that can be integrated with a deep ridge waveguide have been developed. By obtaining low loss coupling of a deep ridge and buried waveguide, an SSC loss of <2 dB has been realised. The 1 dB-down tolerances in the lateral and vertical directions are increased to ±2.2 and 2.0 μm, respectively
