Abstract
This paper illustrates an atmospheric-pressure glow discharge sustained by a resonant power supply. The power supply can provide an ac current with a constant peak value, while the load of resistive character is varied by many orders of magnitude. Gas discharges between pin-to-plate electrodes are observed. The electrical characteristics and photo of the glow discharge have been obtained. Influence factors on the stability of the discharge, such as the gap clearance and the shape of electrodes, are discussed.
