Abstract :
The behaviour of an eddy current strongly depends on factors such as coil shape, excitation frequency, conductor speed and conductor properties. To analyse the inverse problem (i.e. processing eddy-current-testing data), it is particularly important to quantitatively evaluate the eddy current. In this study, the authors derive an analytical solution for the eddy current distribution for a rectangular coil arranged parallel to a conducting slab. In addition, the authors present the eddy current distribution for various excitation frequencies and conductor speeds.
