Abstract :
Measurements and calculations of intermodulation and harmonic distortion in 1.3 mu m high-speed distributed feedback lasers at multi GHz modulation frequencies are presented. The observed frequency and power dependence of the distortion levels are well explained by a perturbation analysis of the laser rate equations using parameters derived from the measured small-signal optical response of the laser.
