Some principles and circuit techniques for controlling machine tools from a central digital computer

The advantages and economics of time sharing a computer between a number of machine tool control systems are considered. Some of the circuit techniques necessary to achieve this are described, namely encoders, quantizers, function generators, priority sharing methods, and a matrix for parallel selection.
