Abstract :
In this issue of IEEE Control Systems Magazine (CSM), we speak with Jan Maciejowski, who is a professor of control engineering in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, U.K. Before moving into academia, he was a systems engineer with Marconi Space and Defence Systems Ltd, working primarily on attitude control of spacecraft and high-altitude balloon platforms. He was the president of the European Union Control Association from 2003 to 2005 and of the Institute of Measurement and Control for 2002. He was a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Control Systems Society from 2001 to 2007 and is an IEEE Fellow. He is the author of two prize-winning books and many research papers.
