Abstract :
Scheduling and resource allocation determine the progress of the project in software engineering. Project planning in software projects is important and challenging. Unlike projects in other fields, the most important resource in the software projects is human resources. Project planning has to deal not only with the problem of estimating cost, time and scheduling but also with the problem of human resource allocation. As developing flexible and efficient project planning is more important and challenging, this paper proposes bee colony optimization algorithm (BCO). The bees´ algorithm is population-based optimization algorithm that represents the natural foraging and marriage behavior of bees. In its base version the algorithm performs a kind of neighborhood search combined with the random search to enable it to locate a global optimum. This work describes the application of the bees to optimally allocate the human resources to the projects. Following the brief description of the algorithm, the work compares the results obtained to demonstrate the efficiency and robustness of using Bee colony optimization algorithm.
