Abstract :
Cold cathode trigger tubes are fast acting, gas controlled switches. In slow speed computers, where their relatively low duty cycle is tolerable, they may be combined with solid-state components, such as transistors, diodes, and silicon controlled switches. In such combinations the gas switches can be visually observed in operation, so that fault location is considerably simplified. Several unique advantages and various techniques of designing such logic control circuits are outlined. Examples of applications of their circuits in telecommunication control equipments are described. An economical and unsophisticated modular packaging is illustrated, which has proved to be suitable for servicing of complex equipments by technicians of ordinary skills.
