Abstract :
This paper describes theoretical and experimental studies of a proposed twin-channel echo-location system using frequency-modulated transmissions, in terms of its possible application to primary-radar systems or target-tracking systems. The proposed system can measure the range and bearing of a target from a fixed aerial system, although in the presence of multiple targets, ambiguities of target position restrict its performance. The system may be adapted, however, for accurate tracking of a target containing a suitable signal source.
