Abstract :
A numerical solution of the dynamics of microring resonator modulators is proposed in which the transmission process is discretized in the time domain. This solution is effective and provides theoretical rigor, and is compatible with computer programming applications. A numerical example demonstrates that the dynamic process should be taken into account at high modulation frequencies that are comparable to the free-spectral range frequency. The bandwidth of the index modulation series-coupled microring resonators is limited by the resonator linewidth.
