Automatic control and switching equipment for capacitor banks and its application

Hill (Duquesne Light Company, Pittsburgh, Pa.): It is true that static capacitors are being used increasingly by both utilities and industrial and commercial establishments for improvement of voltage, gaining of additional equipment or circuit capacities, and reduction of bills. Also, it probably would be desirable to have automatic control on many of these applications, particularly those made by the utilities. However, there are various factors involved as brought out in the following discussion.
