Abstract

A report on a workshop held on March 28-30, 1989 to review the current status and future prospects for optoelectronic integrated circuit (OEIC) devices, as well as related materials and material processing technologies, is presented. In this report the discussions that took place are summarized and some of the conclusions drawn are highlighted. The report covers emerging systems requirements, materials growth and processing for OEICs, state-of-the-art discrete components, a review of the current status of OEIC research devices,and a discussion of the conclusions of the workshop
