Abstract :
A new magnetoresistive multiplier (MRM) element for use in watt-converters is presented. This element has two independent inputs for two base components of the electromagnetic field: the transverse electric and magnetic components which determine the Poynting vector. The advantage with this kind of transducer compared to those in which digital or analog multipliers of the electrical signals are used, is that the electromagnetic components are used in their natural forms, without any additional conversion. This permits the use of these magnetoresistive multipliers which operate in a wide frequency band with good accuracy. The multiplier has a sensitivity of 5-10 μV(VA/m) with uncertainty of the multiplication 700-900×10-6, temperature coefficient of the sensitivity -4×10-3°C-1, and up to 50-60 dB/√(Hz) dynamic range
