Abstract
Yellow fibre lasers show potential as a cheap and simple solution for a variety of medical treatments such as skin disorders. A robust Dy3+-doped optical fibre that lases yellow visible light when pumped with a blue semiconductor laser has been demonstrated by researchers in Japan; a result that could pave the way for compact, low cost and high quality yellow fibre lasers for use in medical applications.
