Abstract
The commenter maintains that certain assumptions that are made in the above-titled paper (see ibid., vol.37, p.1669-74, 1989) are not valid in general. The authors assume that the error is not valid because the error matrices are not related to an existing network. The second assumption which is judged invalid is the passivity criterion., R.A. Soares contends that the commenter misunderstood the purpose and scope of the paper and thus his second comment is invalid. He agrees, however, with the commenter´s statement concerning the nonreciprocity of network analyzer calibration error boxes.<>
