Abstract
This brief presents a simple method to suppress and re-build, if necessary, Internet Protocol and User Datagram Protocol headers for the transmission of signaling metadata when using an all-IP Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) system. This technique will ease convergence of DVB transmission systems with the Internet. The predicted reduction in packet overhead for signaling when using this technique with the DVB Generic Stream Encapsulation (GSE) is reported.
