Abstract :
The commenter claims that the authors of the above paper (ibid., vol.IM-36, p.971-4, Dec. 1987) did not give any theoretical explanation for the excellent performance of their proposed scheme. The smoother, integrator, and extremum counter are incapable of producing on their own to produce the high performance reported at extremely low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). There are also many redundant stages in the proposed method which add unnecessary cost and complexity and reduce the accuracy, making the method practically unrealistic. In replying, the authors claim that the commenter made two contradictory statements. They also attempt to negate other claims by Masoud.<>
