Abstract :
Energy generation, consumption, and conservation are at the root of many of the most pressing issues facing society today. It is the thesis of this article that the achievement of energy conservation and, hence global emission reductions can be significantly accelerated by integrating smart, energy-efficient appliances into a "smart" electricity grid - the so called "smart grid". And a key feature of this smart grid is demand response.
