Abstract :
Based on the development of the geographic information application system building technology and the demand of “vertical multi-level and lateral multi-branch” organizations for industry geographic information applications, in the paper, we reveal the background and necessity to establish the geographic information application platform (GIAP) and the multilevel structure-oriented GIAP (MSOGIAP). Focuses in the paper will be on its concept, features, and architecture, and will illustrate the practical significance for constructing MSOGIAP using the police geographic information system (PGIS) as an example. This research is of significance for a variety of large industry groups to construct such GIAP.
